The Wood Mouthpiece Page The CXZ_CS is an EXCEPTIONAL mouthpiece made of beautiful Cocus wood.
Made
of wood, instead of hard rubber, this mouthpiece has a deep, rich, and mellow
tone quality. With
its more “intimate” sound, this mouthpiece is especially good for
chamber music and music of the classic and early romantic era music. When I
recently played Mendelssohn’s “Scottish Symphony”, I used
my CXZ_CS. It fit the mood and color of the piece perfectly. I’m proud
to say I got a solo bow for that performance. One
of the visitors to my shop tried one and exclaimed, “I
can’t believe it. It’s better than my Kaspar!” Another
customer said: “Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!
Thanks to Walter for such a gorgeous Bb mouthpiece! Not only is it a work of
art (I got the wood mouthpiece with the most wonderful grain) but it is a
dream to play.” I
use a very embouchure-comfortable facing with a tip opening in the 1.04 to
1.06 range. Due to the material, there is a bit more resistance than the
normal hard rubber mouthpiece. You might find yourself wanting to use
slightly softer reeds. Care
is minimal but important. An application of a light organic oil, twice a
year, especially in dry conditions, will keep it playing at its best. It is
also important to keep the wood humidified, just as you should your clarinet,
in extremely dry conditions. To
try a CXZ_CS for yourself, send payment of $225, plus $5 for shipping in the Due to limited availability I can only send
one trial mouthpiece at a time. The
price is refundable, less shipping and handling, provided mouthpiece is
returned undamaged within 14 days of your receipt. There is a $5 charged on
every returned mouthpiece, to cover sterilization and restocking. PLEASE
NOTE: The
blanks for the wood mouthpieces are very expensive. I must have a full
deposit on the mouthpiece, before I can ship one. Any alteration of the above
spec has to be considered a “special order” and cannot be
returned unless determined defective. Make
your check or money order payable to “Walter Grabner”. Return to: www.clarinetxpress.com
