Mouthpiece Re-Facing and Voicing

Has your mouthpiece lost its pep? Is it tired - not like you remember it?

Perhaps it needs to be refaced.

Facings change with use and normal wear. The tip and side rails get rounded. The specs slowly, imperceptibly change. The tone might still be there, but the response has suffered.

Have it “tuned-up” and made to play as well as new, or in some cases BETTER than it ever has before.

I can also determine if the mouthpiece can benefit from work on the baffle. This is where the legendary mouthpiece technicians, like the Kaspars, and Matson, got the most mileage from their efforts. Baffle adjustment can add that rich DARK quality we are all looking for in our tone.

Some mouthpiece craftsmen do not like to re-face mouthpieces. I love it. It gives me an opportunity to see and work with many styles and types of mouthpiece, and as a result, I become better at my craft. I eagerly look forward to working with your favorite “old friend”.
